While many football fans had their eyes on the NFL preseason this weekend, Week 11 of the 2026 CFL regular season was in full effect. There are only 10 weeks left in the regular season before the playoffs begin on Halloween, so every win and loss from here on out holds a ton of weight.
Fans who haven’t checked out the CFL yet are missing out on an exciting brand of football north of the border. On Saturday night, we saw one of those exciting plays take place between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
With nine left in the fourth quarter, Hamilton Ticats QB Tre Ford, who came in for an injured Harrison Frost in the third frame, unleashed a ridiculous 41-yard touchdown to wide receiver Keric Wheatfall to tie the game at 19-19. What made the play so unreal was that Ford was rolling to his right out of the pocket and threw the ball across his body on a rope to Wheatfall for the score.
WHAT DID WE JUST WITNESS?!?!?

It was something you only see in Madden. Or for those who watch the NFL, Ford’s throw reminded you of the wizardry that we see from Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes on Sundays. Now, some fans on social media pointed out that the football moved as Wheatfall went to ground, but that still doesn’t take away from Ford’s impressive display of arm talent.
Overall, Ford did his job in relief of Frost, leading the Ticats to a 26-19 win over the Roughriders, snapping their three-game losing skid. The dual-threat pivot completed 13 of 17 passes for 151 yards and the aforementioned touchdown to Wheatfall, and added 38 yards on the ground.
Despite Ford’s CFL career not taking off in Edmonton, it’s clear that the 28-year-old quarterback still has immense talent, and we saw a glimpse of it in a must-win game for the Ticats.
