The Philadelphia 76ers and the 29 other teams in the NBA will begin the next phase of the offseason process, which is free agency. NBA free agency starts on Monday at 6 p.m. ET. The first phase was the 2025 NBA Draft, where the Sixers selected former Baylor standout V.J. Edgecombe with the third overall pick and former Auburn star Johni Broome with the No. 35 overall pick.

With those two rookies in the fold, the Sixers will now turn their attention to free agency, where they hope to retain Quentin Grimes (RFA) and Guerschon Yabusele (UFA). On Saturday, Michael A. Scotto of HoopsHype reported that the Sixers tendered an $8.7 million qualifying offer to Grimes, which officially made him a restricted free agent.

As an RFA, the Sixers will get a chance to match any offer sheet another team submits for Grimes. Tony Jones of The Athletic reported on Sunday that the 25-year-old guard is looking for a contract that averages $25 million per year. Jones adds that the Sixers have been in contact with Grimes’ camp.

Meanwhile, Yabusele is reportedly garnering free agent interest from the San Antonio Spurs, per Marc Stein. Yabusele is due for a pay raise after an excellent 2024-25 season, where he averaged 11.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 27.1 minutes per game (70 games).

In addition to those free agency rumors, the Sixers have made a slew of roster moves over the last 24-48 hours. Below, we’ll discuss those moves and their impact heading into free agency:

  • On Sunday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that veteran guard Eric Gordon has declined his $3.4 million player option and will explore free agency. However, Charania adds that Gordon could still return to the Sixers. The 36-year-old guard joined the Sixers last offseason on a two-year, $6.77 million deal. In 39 games last season, he averaged 6.8 points per game on 42.6 percent shooting from the field and 40.9 percent from beyond the arc.

  • Charania also reported that the Sixers declined Lonnie Walker IV’s team option for the 2025-26 season, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent. Philly signed Walker to a two-year pact in February after spending part of the 2024-25 season with Zalgiris in the EuroLeague. In 20 games with Philly, the 26-year-old Walker averaged 12.4 points per game on 42 percent shooting from the field and 35.4 percent from beyond the arc.

  • Veteran forward Kelly Oubre Jr. has reportedly picked up his $8.4 million option for the 2025-26 season, according to Charania. The 29-year-old Oubre has proven to be one of the better Sixers’ pickups in recent years. The veteran has played well, whether he’s coming off the bench or starting. In his first two years in Philly, he’s averaging 15.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

  • On Friday, Charania reported that the Sixers will sign forward Justin Edwards to a new three-year deal after declining his team option for next season. Edwards played tremendously as an undrafted rookie with the Sixers. He scored 10.1 points per game on 45.5 percent shooting from the field and 36.3 percent from beyond the arc. The 21-year-old forward is just touching the surface of what he could become in the Association.

  • According to Kyle Neubeck of PHLY, the Sixers reportedly declined Jared Butler’s team option for next season, which was worth $2.35 million. Butler was acquired from the Washington Wizards in the Reggie Jackson deal ahead of the NBA trade deadline. The Sixers immediately converted Butler’s two-way contract into a two-year rest-of-the-season deal after getting him from Washington.

  • Michael A. Scotto of HoopsHype reported on Friday that veteran center Andre Drummond is exercising his $5 million player option for next season. Heading into next season, the Sixers’ frontcourt will feature Joel Embiid, Adem Bona, Broome, and Drummond.

  • As of right now, the Sixers haven’t announced their roster for the NBA Summer League. However, we do know some of the players who will be on the squad. Immediately after the NBA draft, the Sixers reportedly signed Hunter Sallis to a two-way contract. Additionally, Philadelphia signed the following players to an Exhibit 10 deal — Izan Almansa (per Adam Aronson of PhillyVoice.com), Igor Milicic Jr. (per Jon Chepkevich of DraftExpress), Jack Clark (per Chepkevich), and Saint Thomas (per Chepkevich).
