Congratulations if you have advanced to the second round of your fantasy football playoff – and I’ll extend extra props if you happened to survive the Zay Jones game. However, if you’re beginning your playoff trek in Week 16, welcome to the show.

With Week 16 falling on the very precipice of the prime holiday season and amid fantasy playoffs, this week is sure to be chaotic. What’s the NFL’s present to fans? An incredibly dismal 16-game slate that features two contests between teams with winning records. Surely no one’s playoff run will end in agony.

Below we will try to find some waiver-wire gems on this dismal slate that could help fantasy managers advance in the playoffs.

1. Kenny Pickett, QB, Steelers

Recommended FAAB to spend: $5-$10

So you’ve made it to this point with an injured Kyler Murray, Lamar Jackson, and a potentially absent Jalen Hurts. While Pickett isn’t nearly as exciting as those QBs, he could offer solid upside on Christmas Eve’s primetime game against the Raiders. Las Vegas allows the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing QBs on the season (19.3). It’d be hard to find a better replacement option than Pickett this deep into the season.

2. Zack Moss, RB, Colts

Recommended FAAB to spend: $15-$20

With Jonathan Taylor on injured reserve, Moss and Deon Jackson will step in; and attempt to fill the vacancy in the Colts’ backfield. In last Saturday’s collapse to the Vikings, Moss wholly out-snapped, out-carried, and outproduced Jackson. Moss had 81 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries, while Jackson had 55 yards on 13 carries and a receiving touchdown. The former Bill seems poised to lead the way against the Chargers’ 27th-ranked defense in fantasy points allowed to RBs in Week 16.

3. Tyler Allgeier, RB, Falcons

Recommended FAAB to spend: $10

Allgeier’s career-best game against New Orleans saw him record 139 rushing yards and a touchdown on 17 carries while splitting snaps with Cordarrelle Patterson. This marks the rookie’s fifth time in six weeks with a 4.9 or higher ypc average. In Desmond Ridder’s first career start, he completed 13-of-26 attempts despite trailing the entire game. This game script bodes well for Atlanta’s run game heading into a tough matchup against the Ravens.

4. Chris Moore, WR, Texans

Recommended FAAB to spend: $10

Moore offers some serious FLEX consideration in an incredibly favorable Week 16 matchup against the abysmal Tennessee pass defense. For starters, the sixth-year journeyman has hauled in 14 of his 20 targets over the past two weeks with Nico Collins and Brandin Cooks out. In the Titans, no team allows more fantasy points to receivers, and only three squads allow more WR TDs on a per-game average. Lovie Smith’s 1-12-1 Texans have shown they want to be competitive with whoever their opponent is, and a division rival should see no difference in treatment.

5. Cade Otton, TE, Buccaneers

Recommended FAAB to spend: $5-$10

Otton’s Week 16 fantasy status is entirely contingent upon his matchup against the NFL’s worst unit guarding TEs in the Cardinals. While the rookie has been mostly inconsistent, he’s put up four double-digit outings on the season, along with five games of at least 80 percent offensive snap participation. So while his productivity leaves plenty to be desired, his matchup is impossible to ignore.
