For the first time since 2018, the Philadelphia Eagles will have an international game. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced Monday that the Eagles will play in the league’s first-ever game in Sao Paulo, Brazil, at Corinthians Arena.

Philadelphia will make the trip to Brazil for Week 1 of the 2024 regular season on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, to help kick off the opening week of action. The last time the NFL played a game on a Friday night to start a season was in 1970 between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Los Angeles Rams.

Currently, we don’t know who the Eagles will be playing in Sao Paulo, Brazil. However, Philadelphia joins four other teams (Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Carolina Panthers), who will be playing in next season’s international games.

The last time the Eagles played in an international game was in 2018 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The game happened at Wembley Stadium in London, England, where Philadelphia defeated Jacksonville 24-18.

Philadelphia sports fans were already looking forward to traveling to London this summer for the Phillies. However, fans must plan another trip to South America to kick off the football season.
